About
A high-risk market-timing strategy that switches between 3x leveraged Nasdaq exposure and Treasury bills based on market fear, volatility, and risk-on/risk-off signals.
This strategy mostly asks one question each day: “Is it safe to be aggressive?”
If conditions look calm, it buys TQQQ, a fund that aims to deliver 3x the daily move of the Nasdaq-100 (big tech-heavy stocks like Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon).
If conditions look stressed, it moves to BIL, a very short-term Treasury-bill fund that acts like a cash parking spot. It judges “stress” using market fear, defensive sectors, junk bonds, and gold.
Out-of-sample, this strategy targets bigger upside: ~21.16% annualized vs SPY's ~17.74%, by tactically switching between 3x Nasdaq exposure and cash. Note the flip side: higher volatility and a larger max drawdown (~44%).
