About
A market-timing strategy that swings between an aggressive leveraged tech fund and a defensive anti-risk fund, based on signs of fear, volatility, and whether investors are acting risk-on or risk-off.
This strategy flips between two very different investments:
• TQQQ: a very aggressive bet on big U.S. tech stocks, with gains and losses magnified
• BTAL: a defensive fund that tends to hold up better when riskier stocks struggle
Each day, it checks signs of market stress using volatility, tech strength, utilities, junk bonds, and gold. If conditions look calm, it prefers TQQQ. If markets look nervous or unstable, it moves to BTAL.
Higher upside potential: around 24% annualized out-of-sample returns, via regime shifts between leveraged tech (TQQQ) and defensive BTAL. Caveat: larger drawdowns (~41%) and a lower risk-adjusted Sharpe than the S&P 500.
