About

A daily-rebalanced, rule-based tech-growth strategy using leveraged ETFs (QLD/ROM) with built-in hedges (PSQ/QID) and risk-off assets (TLT/IEF/SHV) to try for long-term growth while protecting against declines.
NutHow it works
A daily-rebalanced, rule-based system that uses a nested sequence of if-then-else decisions to allocate between leveraged tech exposure and hedging/risk-off assets. It primarily uses two growth vehicles (QLD = 2x QQQ, ROM = 2x Tech) for upside and several hedges (PSQ, QID) plus treasury/bond ETFs (TLT, IEF, SHV) for protection. Signals come from RSI (short windows like 10 days), price versus moving averages (e.g., SPY over 200 days), and cumulative return checks over various windows. In plain terms: when momentum is positive, tilt toward tech-levered growth; when momentum weakens or risk increases, tilt toward hedges and safer bonds/cash. The system includes a bear-market module labeled “Bear Market Sideways Protection 2008 Edition” to emphasize protection during extended down/dull markets, and the daily rebalance means positions can shift quickly as signals change.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: tech-growth focus with hedges delivering ~57.5% annualized return vs SPY ~22.5%, with similar/better Sharpe (~1.43) and Calmar (~1.78). Strong upside potential; note larger downturns (~32% vs ~19%) in severe markets.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
