About

An active, rules‑driven strategy that rides tech/semis in uptrends, hedges or moves to cash/alternatives when overheated, and flips to bonds or short positions in downtrends. Uses RSI, moving averages, and KMLM (managed futures) for diversification.
NutHow it works
1) Checks the market’s health: Is the S&P 500 above its 200‑day average? Are prices “hot” or “cold” using a heat gauge (RSI: 0–100)? 2) If healthy and not overheated: it buys fast‑moving tech/semis via leveraged funds (like TQQQ/TECL/SOXL). 3) If overheated: it adds hedges tied to market fear (VIX funds) or shifts to gold/silver/commodities or cash‑like T‑Bills. 4) If weakening: it can go defensive (long bonds or cash) or short the market (inverse QQQ/S&P funds). 5) It also uses a managed‑futures fund (KMLM) as a diversifier when non‑stock trends look stronger than tech.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: ~17.3% annual return vs ~8.9% for the S&P, with alpha ≈0.048 and Calmar ≈1.79. A rules-driven mix of leveraged tech, hedges, and managed futures aims for bigger upside while managing risk versus the S&P.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
