This strategy is usually in a fast-moving mix of 3 areas: big tech (TQQQ), financial stocks (FAS), and long-term US bonds (TMF). It gives more money to whichever of those has been moving more calmly lately. If the Nasdaq 100 falls more than 5% in 5 days, it switches into “buy the dip” mode and simply buys TQQQ, a very aggressive fund that tries to deliver 3x the daily move of the Nasdaq 100. Once a strong rebound happens, it goes back to the normal mix. If markets look stressed, it can move into a defensive basket that may include gold (GLD), the US dollar (UUP), long bonds (TMF), and sometimes a volatility fund (UVXY).
