This strategy first asks: “Does the stock market look stronger than a defensive sector?” If yes, it spreads money across 5 aggressive stock funds tied to tech, the Nasdaq, the S&P 500, and the Dow. Each slice can switch out of stocks into a “storm shelter” made of volatility funds, a defensive stock fund, very short-term Treasuries, or the U.S. dollar. If the whole market looks weak, it may hide in long-term Treasury bonds or the dollar instead.
