About

A highly intricate, rule-based, multi-asset strategy that rotates daily across stocks, bonds, gold, currencies, volatility, and a Bitcoin proxy. It uses momentum and volatility signals to tilt toward growth or defense in different macro regimes.
NutHow it works
- Every day, allocate a cash sum across several themes: Golden Dragon (long volatility), Trend and Momentum, Fiat Alternatives, Secular Growth Assets, and Bonds, plus risk-off/risk-on sub-strategies. - Within each theme, pick assets using rules like: which assets have performed best recently (top by cumulative return), momentum signals, moving-average comparisons, and RSI thresholds. - Some parts tilt toward aggressive growth via 3x levered ETFs (e.g., UPRO, TQQQ, TECL, SOXL, FAS) when conditions look favorable; others tilt toward defensive plays (GLD, XLP, BTAL, SDS, SQQQ, SH) when risk is high or inflation/rates shift. - A dedicated BTC proxy exposure (GBTC) is considered, with RSI and drawdown checks to decide when to tilt toward or away from crypto exposure. - The system uses “top” or “bottom” selections and varied windows (e.g., 10, 20, 60, 120, 200 days) to rank assets and decide which to hold. - Weights are assigned to groups (cash-based or specified), and the daily rebalance adjusts positions across all chosen assets according to those rules. - The aim is to ride macro regimes (growth, inflation, rising/falling rates) while hedging with volatility and precious metals, plus Bitcoin proxies. Risks include complexity, data/signal sensitivity, and the inherent volatility of leveraged ETFs and crypto proxies.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: ~22% annualized return vs ~19% for the S&P, with a near-market beta (~0.98) and diversified macro tilts across growth/defense plus vol/gold hedges and a crypto proxy. Calmar ~0.64 offers solid risk-adjusted strength, though drawdowns run higher (~34%).

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
