About

Daily, buy the most recently sold‑off fund from a defensive list (bonds and staples/health care/utilities) using a 10‑day RSI signal, and hold the rest in cash. A short‑term, contrarian, lower‑risk tilt with frequent rebalancing.
NutHow it works
Each day it scans 8 “defensive” funds: BSV (short‑term US bonds), TLT (long Treasuries), LQD (IG corporate bonds), VBF (bond fund), XLP/UGE (consumer staples; UGE is 2×), XLV (health care), XLU (utilities). It computes a 10‑day RSI (a 0–100 gauge of recent ups vs downs), buys the one with the lowest RSI (most recently sold off), and keeps roughly half the portfolio in cash. Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy delivers higher upside and risk-adjusted returns vs. the S&P 500: 38.3% annualized, Sharpe 1.83, Calmar 4.22, beta ~0.27. Diversified, cash-buffered, mean-reversion in defensives.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
