About

Daily, hold one ETF: if long‑term Treasury bonds (TLT) are trending up and moving briskly, own TLT; otherwise own the least‑hurt choice among U.S. stocks (SPY), commodities (DBC), and energy stocks (XLE).
NutHow it works
Each day: 1) Check if long‑term U.S. Treasury bonds (TLT) are in an uptrend (100‑day avg price > 400‑day). If yes: if TLT’s recent swings are larger than usual (15‑day vs 80‑day), buy TLT; else buy the one with the smallest 10‑day drop between SPY (U.S. stocks) and DBC (commodities). If no: buy the least‑hurt of SPY, DBC, and XLE (energy). Hold 1 ETF; rebalance daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy trims downside and improves risk-adjusted performance vs the S&P 500: 15.88% annualized return with a 13.70% max drawdown vs SPY’s 18.76%, Calmar ~1.16 and Sharpe ~1.11.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
