About

A daily, rule-based switch that uses long-term Treasury bonds to read the backdrop, then holds either TLT or the least‑hurt choice among US stocks, commodities, or energy based on very recent pullbacks.
NutHow it works
Each day it checks a long‑term US Treasury bond fund (TLT). If TLT’s 100‑day average price is above its 400‑day average, bonds are “in an uptrend.” If in an uptrend and TLT’s recent swings (15 days) are bigger than usual (vs 80 days), buy TLT. Otherwise buy whichever has the smaller 10‑day pullback: SPY (US stocks) or DBC (commodities). If bonds aren’t in an uptrend, buy the least‑pulled‑back of SPY, DBC, or XLE (energy). Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge with cleaner risk: max drawdown 13.7% vs 18.8%, Calmar ~1.16, and steady risk-adjusted returns from a bond-first rotation. Upside is lower (15.9% vs 26.7%), but growth is smoother and less risky.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
