About
A daily market-timing strategy that mainly trades the S&P 500, buying more aggressively on dips and shifting to defensive assets or a bearish fund when conditions weaken.
This strategy watches the S&P 500 through SPY and asks 3 simple questions each day: is the market in a healthy long-term trend, has it fallen hard very recently, and is it weakening now?
If conditions look strong, it owns SPY and/or SSO (a 2x boosted S&P 500 fund). If stocks look beaten up, it buys the dip with SSO. If conditions look weak, it can rotate into defensive holdings like XLP, the U.S. dollar fund UUP, short-term bonds (BSV), or an inverse S&P 500 fund (SDS) that rises when the market falls.
Out-of-sample edge: 18.44% annualized return vs 17.51% for the S&P 500, aided by dip-buying and regime-based rotations. Captures upside with a disciplined risk framework, though drawdowns can be larger in downturns.
