About

A daily switch between a 2x Nasdaq‑100 fund (QLD) and short‑term Treasuries (SHY). It rides uptrends, steps aside when things look overheated or jumpy, and may buy quick dips—aiming to beat the market with smaller drawdowns.
NutHow it works
Each day it decides between two funds: - QLD: aims to move ~2x the Nasdaq‑100 (tech‑heavy growth). - SHY: short‑term U.S. Treasuries (defensive). Rule 1 (trend): If the S&P 500’s short‑term average price is above its long‑term average, it’s an uptrend. In uptrends, hold QLD unless Nasdaq looks overheated (RSI—a 0‑100 “heat” score—very high) or too jumpy (volatility spike); then use SHY. Rule 2 (not an uptrend): Mostly hold SHY. Briefly buy QLD only on sharp short‑term washouts (very low RSI) or if price turns up again short‑term.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy beats the S&P on risk-adjusted terms: ~54% annualized return vs 19%, Sharpe ~1.30 vs 1.10, Calmar ~1.49 vs ~1.04. Leverages upside in uptrends with risk controls; note drawdowns can be larger.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
