About

A daily “barbell” trend strategy: in healthy markets, split between Tech and Healthcare, using 3x sector funds only when not overheated; in weak markets, park in short‑term bonds, with occasional buy‑the‑dip trades in 3x Nasdaq after sharp drops.
NutHow it works
Each day: - If SPY is above its 200‑day avg, split 50/50 into Tech and Healthcare. In each, if the sector is in a short‑term uptrend (12‑day EMA > 26‑day EMA) and the 3x fund’s last 10‑day gain is ≤5%, use the 3x fund (TECL/CURE); otherwise use XLK/XLV. - If SPY is below its 200‑day avg, hold BSV unless QQQ fell >4% in 5 days—then buy TQQQ unless it jumped >5% today. (TECL=3x Tech, CURE=3x Health, TQQQ=3x Nasdaq; XLK/XLV unlevered; BSV bonds)
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: ~53.4% annualized return vs SPY 16.1%, Sharpe ~1.10 vs 0.86, Calmar ~2.21; drawdowns higher (~24% vs 18.8%), but the system’s disciplined trend/barbell rules deliver superior risk-adjusted growth.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
