About

A daily, one-position strategy that flips to leveraged stock funds when risk appetite strengthens and shifts to defensive hedges (staples, bonds, gold, anti‑beta or short junk) when fear rises, using simple short‑ vs long‑term momentum checks.
NutHow it works
Each day it checks a speedometer of fear (UVXY). If the short-term speed beats the long-term one, it hides in defenses: the most stable of consumer staples (VDC), a bond fund (VBF), 2x gold (UGL), or a market‑neutral anti‑beta fund (BTAL). If not fearful, it checks consumer‑services (UCC). If rising, it buys the strongest leveraged stock fund (TQQQ, SPXL, UDOW, ERX, CURE, UTSL, WANT). Else it holds a defensive hedge (BTAL or short junk bonds, SJB). One fund, rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy aims higher returns (≈35.7% vs 29.2% S&P) with a Calmar ~1.08 and solid risk-adjusted outcomes, using daily momentum-driven rotation. Note it can incur larger drawdowns in harsh bear markets.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
