About
A mostly-Apple strategy that uses market trend checks to sidestep major downturns, sometimes shifting into big-tech, an inverse tech fund, or short-term bonds when conditions look risky.
Most of the time, this strategy simply owns Apple.
But first it asks: “Does the overall U.S. stock market still look healthy?” It judges that by comparing the recent trend of the S&P 500 (SPY) with its long-term trend.
If the market looks healthy, it buys Apple (AAPL).
If the market looks weak, it checks the big-tech market (QQQ). If tech has been hit very hard very quickly, it buys QQQ instead, expecting a rebound.
If not, and tech still looks weak, it moves to defense: either PSQ, which rises when big tech falls, or BSV, a short-term bond fund that is usually steadier.
If tech weakness seems to be easing, it goes back to Apple.
Out-of-sample, this Apple-focused strategy delivers ~28.5% annualized return vs ~18.2% for the S&P, with lower beta (~0.64) and solid risk-adjusted metrics (Calmar ~1.30, Sharpe ~1.12). Expect higher upside with some larger drawdowns in downturns.
