About

Stay in QQQ during normal markets; when QQQ’s weekly swings spike, switch to either gold (GLD) or long U.S. Treasuries (TLT), choosing the one that’s been weaker recently. One ETF at a time.
NutHow it works
Default: hold QQQ, a tech‑heavy index fund (Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Google, Tesla, etc.). Each day it checks how wild QQQ’s last week has been. If swings are unusually large (~>3.5% daily volatility), it exits QQQ and goes 100% to a “safer” asset: GLD (gold) or TLT (long‑term U.S. Treasury bonds). It picks the one that’s been colder over ~2 weeks (a simple recent‑moves score). When volatility calms, it returns to QQQ.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: 26.75% annualized return vs 20.59% for the S&P, with Sharpe ~1.29 and Calmar ~1.24. A rule-based switch to GLD/TLT on spikes aims for higher upside with disciplined risk, though drawdowns may be larger.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
