About

A daily-rebalanced, rule-based system that rotates among leveraged tech/semiconductor/broad-market ETFs (and their inverses) using momentum and volatility indicators, while layering risk-off hedges and defensive assets to protect during pullbacks. It blends multiple thematic sub-strategies into one aggressive, systematic portfolio.
NutHow it works
- Daily universe: a set of leveraged ETFs (TQQQ, TECL, SOXL, SPXL, SPXS, SQQQ) plus volatility and defense assets (UVXY, VIXY, BSV, SHY, BIL, UUP/USDU, TMF/TMV, TLT, GLD, UCO, PDBC, etc.). - Decision engine uses momentum and trend signals to pick long ideas and hedges. Key indicators include RSI (momentum), moving-average comparisons (price vs longer-term trend), and returns/volatility measures (cumulative return, standard deviation). - Bull selection (Bull Search): among the bulleit assets (e.g., TQQQ, TECL, SOXL, SPXL, SPYX equivalents in the setup), the system ranks by momentum measures and selects the top candidates (often 1 or 2) to go long, weighting them heavily (commonly full exposure to the chosen picks). - Bear selection (Bear Search): similar logic but targets inverse or bear-focused ETFs (e.g., SQQQ, SOXS, SPXS) or hedges when momentum looks exhausted or overextended, to dampen drawdowns. - Volatility timing: signals involving UVXY/VIX-related rules are used to time risk-on versus risk-off periods; high volatility signals can push money toward hedges or cash equivalents. - Risk-off and defense lanes: when momentum signals weaken or risk indicators spike, allocations tilt toward safer baskets (short-term bonds like BIL, SHY; dollar-related ETFs like USDU/UUP; long-duration Treasuries via TMF) or cash-like positions. - Pop Bots / overlays: additional meta-criteria and adjusted weightings are layered in via “Pop Bots” groups to exploit short-term opportunities or to emphasize certain theme rotations (e.g., tech, semis, or broad market momentum). - Rebalance cadence: the system is designed to rebalance daily, effectively rewiring the portfolio every trading day based on current signals. - Risk profile caveat: the use of 3x/4x leveraged bets and rapid changes creates amplified risk of large losses in downturns; this approach assumes a high tolerance for drawdowns and a willingness to ride volatility. The many nested filters are intended to avoid obvious pitfalls but cannot eliminate risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
