A Better "Buy the Dips Nasdaq" by Garen Phillips

About

A tactical Nasdaq plan: it shorts when the market looks overheated or after sharp drops, buys 3× biotech on deep weakness, and otherwise holds TQQQ plus mega‑cap tech/semis. Uses leveraged ETFs, so expect big swings.
NutHow it works
Signals use QQQ (Nasdaq‑100). A short‑term “speedometer” (RSI) flags when price is stretched: high=overheated, low=washed‑out. After a >6% 5‑day drop, it usually bets against QQQ via SQQQ (3× inverse); only if still very weak does it buy LABU (3× biotech). Without a crash, it shorts when overheated, buys biotech when washed‑out, and otherwise holds an equal mix of TQQQ (3× QQQ) plus MSFT, AAPL, AMZN, NVDA, AMD, TSM, TSLA.
CheckmarkValue prop
Stronger Nasdaq-driven upside: out-of-sample annualized return ~40% vs SPY ~19%, using rules-based 3x ETF rotations. Higher volatility and larger drawdowns; paired with clear signals to seek big upside with disciplined risk controls.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
