About
A daily momentum strategy: if market fear is surging, it bets against the S&P 500 using SPXU; otherwise it owns the 2 strongest recent performers from a shortlist of major U.S. stocks.
Every day, the strategy first checks VIXM, a market-fear fund. If its 40-day RSI (a score of how strong its recent rise has been) is above 69, the strategy moves fully into SPXU, a fund that goes up when the S&P 500 falls.
If not, it looks at 11 stocks and buys the 2 with the strongest 40-day price momentum, splitting money evenly between them.
Out-of-sample edge: ~47% annualized return vs ~19% SPY; Sharpe ~1.35 vs ~1.23; Calmar ~2.0. Daily rebalance: hedge with SPXU on fear spikes, otherwise two top momentum mega-cap names aim for stronger, risk-adjusted upside.
