This strategy first asks: is the U.S. stock market in a long-term healthy trend or a weak one? It answers that by comparing the S&P 500’s shorter-term average price with its much longer-term average. In strong markets, it often buys very aggressive 3x stock funds, but tones risk down if stocks look overheated. In weak markets, it shifts toward bonds, defensive stocks, or sometimes a fund that rises when tech falls.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
