About
A daily strategy that aggressively buys leveraged Nasdaq exposure after weakness, and otherwise rotates into the weaker of consumer staples or bonds as a defensive rebound play.
Each day, the strategy checks whether QQQ (a fund tracking big Nasdaq stocks like Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon) has been weak lately. It measures this with RSI, a simple “hot or cold” score of recent price moves. If QQQ looks beaten down, it buys TQQQ, a fund that tries to move about 3x as much as QQQ each day.
If QQQ does not look weak, it avoids tech and instead chooses between consumer-staples stocks (XLP) and bonds (VBF). It picks whichever of those two has been weaker lately, betting on a rebound.
Contrarian dip-buying: when Nasdaq is weak, levered Nasdaq exposure; otherwise rotate to staples or bonds. Out-of-sample: ~19.4% annualized, Calmar ~0.86, positive risk-adjusted return and diversification vs the S&P, with higher drawdowns.
