A chip-sector trading strategy that buys sharp dips, fades sharp rallies, and otherwise shifts between regular semiconductor exposure, leveraged bullish/bearish bets, and a small set of defensive hedges.

This strategy mostly trades the semiconductor industry. It watches SMH, a broad chip-stock fund. If chip stocks fall hard in 1 day, it bets on a rebound using SOXL, a fund that aims to rise 3x as much as semiconductor stocks. If chip stocks jump hard, it often bets on a pullback using SOXS, which aims to move 3x in the opposite direction. When moves are less extreme, it uses “stretch” signals (RSI) and trend checks to choose between regular chip exposure, leveraged bullish or bearish chip funds, or safer holdings like short-term Treasuries, the U.S. dollar, and volatility funds.

Out-of-sample edge: ~40% annualized return vs SPY ~20%; tactical semis with leveraged bets and hedges aim for outsized chip-cycle gains. Higher drawdowns (~52% vs ~19%), but strong upside potential.
