A daily market-timing strategy that watches big tech stocks: it bets on fear after extreme euphoria, bets on a rebound after a sharp selloff, and otherwise sits in a defensive mix of staples, utilities, health care, and Treasury bonds.
NutHow it works
Each day, the strategy looks at QQQ, a fund that tracks big growth companies like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Nvidia. It uses a simple “temperature gauge” of recent price movement called RSI. If QQQ looks extremely overheated, it moves fully into VIXY, which tends to benefit when market fear jumps. If QQQ looks extremely beaten down, it moves fully into QLD, a 2x bullish Nasdaq fund. Otherwise, it spreads money evenly across four defensive holdings: consumer staples, utilities, health care, and long-term U.S. Treasury bonds.
