A fast-moving market-timing strategy that shifts between tech stocks, semiconductors, gold, the US dollar, commodities, volatility hedges, and cash-like T-bills based on recent market strength, weakness, and stress.

This strategy is a switch-hitter. Every review period, it first compares two mini-strategies and uses the one that has been holding up better in the last month. One mini-strategy rotates among US dollar funds, semiconductors, commodities, gold, short-the-market funds, and a small defensive sleeve in Costco/UnitedHealth or T-bills. The other mini-strategy is mostly a Nasdaq/tech trader: it buys strong big-name stocks in normal markets, swings into aggressive 3x stock funds after sharp selloffs, and moves to a volatility fund when the market looks overheated.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
