About
A stock-picking strategy that owns a basket of growth-oriented stocks only when the broad U.S. market is in an uptrend; otherwise it shifts to short-term Treasury bills for safety.
The strategy first checks the overall U.S. stock market using SPY, a fund that tracks the S&P 500.
If SPY is above its 200-day average price, it treats the market as healthy and spreads money evenly across a list of mostly fast-growing stocks.
If SPY is below that long-term average, it exits stocks and moves into BIL, a very short-term U.S. Treasury fund that acts like a cash parking spot.
A rule-based growth strategy: own growth stocks only in up markets and park in cash in down markets. Out-of-sample: 6.04% annualized return, Calmar 0.71, Sharpe 0.38. Adds diversification and risk management versus the S&P 500.
