A symphony is an automated trading strategy — Learn more about symphonies here

About

A tactical, Nasdaq‑centric strategy. In calm uptrends it holds TQQQ. When the market looks overheated or fear spikes, it shifts into VIX hedges, gold/oil, or defensives. As fear fades, it shorts volatility (with strict risk checks). Rebalanced daily.
NutHow it works
Big picture: If the S&P 500 is in an uptrend and fear (volatility) is calm, it rides the Nasdaq‑100 using TQQQ (a 3x Nasdaq fund). It watches a “hot/cold” speed gauge (RSI: high=hot, low=cold) and quick fear spikes. • If things look overheated or fear jumps: it buys mixes of VIX funds (UVXY/VIXY/VIXM/VXX), or gold/oil, or defensive funds (BTAL, USMV). • If fear is high but easing: it sells volatility (SVXY/SVIX) with strict loss limits. It sizes hedges using signals from global/style/sector ETFs (IOO, VTV, XLP, XLF) and rebalances daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe ≈1.94 vs SPY ≈1.40; Calmar ≈4.53; ~139% annualized out-of-sample return. Nasdaq-focused with volatility hedges aims for stronger risk-adjusted gains vs the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
