About

A large, rule-based, multi-asset strategy that combines momentum, strength indicators, and volatility-aware weighting to pick a handful of assets (often leveraged plays, hedges, and diversifiers) from many groups, then allocates weights and rebalances to pursue growth while managing risk.
NutHow it works
- The system scans many assets across stocks, ETFs, and even leveraged/inverse products. - For each asset, it computes signals such as price momentum (recent performance vs a moving average), a momentum/strength indicator (similar to RSI), and sometimes volatility or drawdown metrics. - Assets are grouped into themed pools (for example, core growth ideas, metals/commodities, quantum-tech signals, and safer-bond/defensive themes). - Within each group, assets that meet predefined thresholds are ranked and a subset is selected (top or bottom depending on the rule). The selection uses a “select-n” rule (how many ideas to pick) and a chosen sort (eg, relative strength, momentum, or drawdown). - Each selected asset gets a weight, sometimes with fixed percentages and sometimes adjusted by an inverse-volatility principle (more weight to less volatile assets). - The portfolio combines all groups, balancing exposure across asset classes (equities, leveraged plays, bonds, precious metals, and hedges). - Periodically (likely daily or intraday), the system re-evaluates and rebalances according to the latest signals, re-allocating cash to the assets meeting the rules and trimming others. - Some blocks explicitly include hedging components (eg, VIX-related products like UVXY, VXX, SQQQ) to reduce downside risk when signals indicate elevated risk. - The design also includes risk-control constraints (limit on leverage, diversification across sectors and asset types, group-level caps) to avoid excessive concentration. - Overall aim: capture upside in trending assets (often tech and leveraged bets) while preserving capital or reducing risk through hedges and bonds when conditions deteriorate.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample Sharpe ~7 vs S&P ~1.4; dramatically higher risk-adjusted returns with modest drawdowns. Positive out-of-sample alpha and diversified exposure (stocks, bonds, gold, hedges) using adaptive weights for steadier, scalable growth.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
