About

A one-position-at-a-time momentum system that uses 10-day RSI signals on selected leveraged ETFs (e.g., UVXY, TQQQ, SPXL, SOXL) to switch assets, with an adaptive overlay that shifts into hedges (CURE, TMF, USDU, PDBC) based on longer-term MA trends. No regular rebalancing; trades are triggered by RSI and MA conditions to chase upside or reduce risk.
NutHow it works
- You start with one asset only. The system watches several leveraged ETFs and volatility or macro assets. - It computes a 10-day RSI (a momentum gauge) for certain assets (notably TQQQ, SPXL, SOXL, etc.). - If the RSI of TQQQ over 10 days goes above 80, the model signals UVXY as the target position (a bet on rising volatility). If SPXL’s 10-day RSI is above 80, UVXY is chosen instead. - If those high-momentum conditions aren’t met, the model looks for oversold signals (RSI below 30 on certain assets) and then shifts into other leveraged or sector/asset proxies (e.g., SOXL, SPXL, TQQQ, SPY, CURE, TMF, USDU, PDBC, DBC, UUP, etc.). In practice this means the system keeps 100% exposure to whichever single instrument the rules select. - There is a nested “Adaptive stuff” block that, rather than just responding to RSI, cross-checks longer-term trends using moving averages (e.g., comparing 126-day MA to 21-day MA on assets like SPY, TLT, DBC, UUP, SPY, etc.). When these MA checks indicate regime changes (e.g., trends weakening or volatility regime rising), the model can jump into hedges like USDU or PDBC or into bond/dollar exposure (TMF, CURE) to dampen risk. - The plan specifies no automatic daily/periodic rebalancing (“rebalance: none”) and sets a very narrow “rebalance corridor” value, reinforcing the rule-driven, signal-based switch rather than gradual reweighting. - The result is a one-at-a-time, high-leverage, rule-based system: on any given signal, you flip to the chosen asset and hold it until another signal flips you out. The system blends aggressive momentum bets with an adaptive risk-off channel to attempt to navigate different market regimes.

Out-of-sample: 15.8% annualized vs SPY 20.8%; Sharpe 0.60 vs 1.30; max drawdown 34.5% vs 18.8%. A disciplined, single-asset momentum system with adaptive hedges aims for tactical alpha and diversification, not vanilla SPY returns.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.

The symphony is currently performing the same as yesterday today. Performance updates in real time during market hours.
