About

Barbell design: ~50% steady income (cash‑like and dividend ETFs). ~50% tactical: flips between leveraged tech/semis/ARK longs and shorts, hedging with Treasuries, dollar, gold, or VIX. Uses hot/cold scores and bond “votes.” High risk, high turnover.
NutHow it works
Half sits in a steady, low‑vol basket (cash‑like T‑bills via BIL; dividend ETFs JEPI/SCHD). The other half is a fast switcher: it buys or shorts tech/semis/ARK (via TARK/SARK, SOXL/SOXS, TECL, TQQQ/UPRO), and hedges with Treasuries (TMF/TMV), dollar (UUP), gold (UGL) or volatility (UVXY). Decisions use simple “hot/cold” scores (RSI: high=overheated, low=washed‑out), brief trend/vol checks, and a bond “vote” (short vs long Treasuries). In panic or euphoria, it often parks in cash.
CheckmarkValue prop
Barbell approach blends steady income with tactical growth. In out-of-sample tests, it shows smaller drawdowns (17.1% vs SPY 18.8%), 16.8% annualized return, and solid risk control (Calmar near 1.0), offering smoother risk and diversification beyond the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
