What is PJFV?

The Fund invests, under normal market conditions, at least 80% of its investable assets in equity and equity related securities. The Fund follows a value investment style to select equities of approximately 25 to 40 issuers. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing, under normal circumstances, in companies that it believes are undervalued compared to their perceived worth ("value companies"). The Fund may invest in companies of any market capitalization. Under normal market conditions, the Fund is expected to invest predominantly in large capitalization companies, which are companies with market capitalizations (measured at the time of purchase) of $1 billion or more and are selected by the subadviser using a combination of fundamental research and systematic portfolio construction. The Fund is an actively managed exchange-traded fund ("ETF") and, thus, does not seek to replicate the performance of a specified index.

What is ETF correlation?

Correlation is a measure of the strength of the relationship between two ETFs. It quantifies the degree to which prices of the two ETFs typically move together.

Here, correlation is measured over the past year with the Pearson correlation coefficient (Pearon’s r), which ranges from -1 to 1.

Using ETF correlations in portfolio and strategy construction

ETF correlations can help you create investing strategies and portfolios. Use them to:

  • Build a diversified portfolio from uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETFs with the aim of minimizing portfolio risk.
  • Compare correlated or related ETFs to find one with a lower expense ratio or higher trading volume.
  • Create an investing strategy that hedges an ETF with an uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETF.
